Common questions

The things people write in about.

I got a new phone. How do I get my lists back?
Install the app on the new phone and sign in with the same account. Your lists, templates, shopping history and receipts restore from your backup automatically — give it a moment on the first launch. If you never created an account, the data only ever existed on the old phone and cannot be recovered, because it was never sent to us. That's the trade the no-account mode makes.
I paid, but the app still shows the free plan.
Open Settings and tap Restore purchases — that re-checks your subscription with the App Store or Google Play and re-applies it to the account you're signed into. Make sure you're signed into the same store account that made the purchase, and the same Nippy Shopper account. If it still doesn't appear, email us with the store receipt and we'll sort it out; you will not be charged twice.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed by the app store, so they're cancelled there — not in our app. On Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Nippy Household until the period you already paid for runs out. Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy.
Someone invited me to a list and I can't see it.
Check that you accepted the invitation while signed into your own account, and that the sender still has a free seat — a free account covers three people in total, so a fourth invitation is declined until someone leaves or the sender upgrades. Reopening the invitation link after installing the app is usually all it takes.
My receipt photo disappeared.
On a free account, full-size receipt images and videos are kept for 60 days and up to 100 MB in total. After that the shopping trip, its date, its total and a thumbnail of the receipt remain — only the full-size file is removed, and we warn you a week before it happens. Nippy Household keeps receipts indefinitely, with 10 GB of storage.
Does the app add up my shopping as I go?
Yes. Put a price on an item — scanned off the shelf label with the camera, or typed — and the running total updates as you tick things off, so you know what the till will say before you get there. It works whether you are shopping on your own or from a list you share, and it works with no account and no signal.
Something is broken. What should I send you?
As much of this as you can: what you tapped, what you expected, what happened instead, your phone model and OS version, and the app version, shown at the bottom of Help & Feedback in the app's menu. A screenshot or screen recording usually saves a round trip. Please don't send passwords — we will never ask for one.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Account & Settings → Your Profile → Delete account. It erases the account and its data immediately — there is nothing to email us about and no waiting period. The full explanation of what goes, what happens to a list you share with other people, and what to do if you can't sign in, is on the account deletion page.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Yes, and you don't have to ask us. In the app: Account & Settings → Your Profile → Download my data. It saves everything we hold for your account — profile, lists, items, prices, trips, reusable lists, contacts, invitations, devices and subscription record — as a single file you can keep or share. Receipts and photos are listed with download links rather than packed into the file, so save those separately if you are about to delete the account.

Before you write in

Two things solve most reports on the spot: make sure the app is up to date in the store, and — if it involves syncing — check that the device has a working connection and you're signed in on both phones.

What we'll never ask you for

  • Your password, or a code from a text message
  • Payment card details — the app stores never share them with us
  • Remote access to your phone

If a message claiming to be from Nippy Shopper asks for any of these, it isn't from us. Forward it to security@nippyshopper.com.
