Delete your account and data
You can delete your Nippy Shopper account from inside the app at any time, without asking us. It erases the account and its data straight away — there is no waiting period and nothing to email us about. This page explains exactly what goes, what happens to a list you share with other people, and what to do if you can't sign in.
Delete it from the app
The fastest route, and it takes effect immediately.
- Open Nippy Shopper and make sure you're signed in.
- Go to Account & Settings → Your Profile.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
It is immediate and there is no undo. Want a copy of your data first? Tap Download my data on the same screen — it saves everything we hold for you as a single file. If you only want to stop paying, cancel the subscription instead — see below — and keep the free account.
What happens straight away
- Your profile — name, email address, photo, date of birth and gender — is erased.
- Your shopping lists, items, trips and prices are deleted.
- Your reusable lists are deleted.
- Your receipts and photos are deleted from our storage.
- Your saved contacts, invitations and notification history go, and so do the contact entries other people held about you.
- Every signed-in session on every device is revoked, and the copy on your phone is wiped.
Lists you share with other people
A list only you use is deleted with everything else. A list other people are still on is the one case we handle differently — deleting your account should not delete a household's shopping history along with it.
What happens to a shared list
If you own a list that other members are still on, the list passes to the member who has been on it longest, and they become its owner. Your membership, your name and your email come off it, along with your name on anything you edited. The receipts and photos you uploaded to it are deleted with the rest of your media.
If nobody else is on the list, there is nobody to pass it to and it is deleted. The app tells you how many lists were passed on at the moment you delete the account.
What we keep, and why
- Content other people own — an item you added to someone else's list stays on their list, with your name removed from it.
- Security events — the record that a sign-in happened is kept for a while so a deleted account can't be used to cover tracks. The name, address, device and IP are stripped out of it as part of the deletion.
- A deletion receipt — the date, and how much was removed. It carries no name, address or device: it exists so we can show the deletion happened.
- Encrypted backups — expire on their own schedule and are never restored to bring an account back.
If you can't sign in
Email privacy@nippyshopper.com from the address you registered with, telling us you want the account deleted. We'll verify that you control the address before we act — that check is what stops someone else deleting your lists — and then run exactly the same deletion the app runs, within 30 days and usually far sooner.
Never had an account? Then there is nothing here to delete — everything you created stays on your phone, and uninstalling the app removes it. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
